Having 40 young of different ages, I spray tails with Raidex. Animal marker. The older ones, then they are simple to catch. Older hen.

Marking the birds saves catching them all. Red marker for the blues. Supposed to deter hawks but not sure about that.

The reason behind the cement block. The door is half inch plywood. Bolt top and middle. However, plywood tends to warp. There is, without the block, a 2 inch gap at the bottom. A Raccoon can possibly force it's way in. With bad results. I could put another bolt at the bottom. Good for Summer but in Winter would be snow covered and frozen. The block is hard for a 'coon to move. I hope. Of course, I could reinforce the door. May do so, but this works for now. Creative engineering? Any way, that's my story and I am sticking to it!!!!!! Sounds better than 'lazy bugger!" I grow a few mint plants. Never use the stuff myself. Can sell each plant for a few hundred dollars. Pay's for some pigeon feed. Probably makes some one happy eventually. See? I am in the service of my fellow men!!
