| Well its been a long time coming, but well worth the wait, When i joined the forum, all i had is my thoughts on returning to the sport. I soon learnt after reading up on racing pigeons today, you cant just walk back into the sport. So i sat down and made a 3 year plan, on not only getting back into the sport, but racing at a good level. I now feel i am on my way, but still a lot to learn and Re-educating myself into loft Management. The 1st year is not over yet, but i know there is still a lot to learn, and all the hard work can be a reward, but also it can be a failure too, But education is a wonderful tool. Most of all thanks to the members on the forum, its great to know there is always someone only to happy to help. Thank you. |

| You've certainly started your return the right way, you've got some cracking healthy looking stock birds and a beautiful new loft.
This is my first year back racing Dev. If I was to give you 1 bit of advice it would be to not send any young birds to a race if even 1 in your section looks doubtful. Some of the things they carry messes with their head gear. In my opinion theres so many antibiotics used these days the birds are really lacking immunity to anything. You may be able to keep them 100% yourself but after they mix with other people's birds you're screwed. |

I can only work on the well-being and health of my birds, i can then only hope other flyers do the same. Its great to have feedback, it all helps positive or negative, its all a part of the sport to become better, and that goes with ourselves, thank you. |

So my wife now thinks i have OCD, because i clean the loft twice a day. We were always trained as a chef and a butcher, to clean as you go. If it dont move then move it. I agree birds do have to mix while racing with others, but like i say you only hope people become a extension of yourself. And have the duty of care for their birds, we must remember we choose them, they cant pick their owners. |
