I have asked this question before but I will ask it again..Do you think early bred ybs are any better than say ybs bred in fed or March. .This is my own opinion. I think later ones make better racers as ybs and yearlings..I think again my opinion. .early ones become lazy and are harder to work...what's your thoughts

later ones are up ranging then training and racing the earlier ones have a period when they have finished ranging and get lazy and more interested in eachother ,that's what I have found anyway as for better or worse as yearlings I can say loses in later bred spring ybs seem to be less ....for me anyway atb

my only views are that when ive bred early, all they want to do is sit around the loft pairing up, not wanting to exercise once they get to a certain age....

It's the fancier not the birds. Early ones have to be worked harder as they get older. BUT, they are old enough to race to a nest or mate. Motivated.

I think it depends on your training methods, Early bred birds have more time too develop, yes i agree they can become very lazy, and can have their mind taken on other things. But i feel the later birds seem to get more stressed, because their training seems to get crammed in, and not a lot of of time for development. Before they know it they are in a basket and down the road. I think you need to find a fine balance, and the early bred we need to motivate them, but i feel you would get better results. just my thoughts.

Good question David, I feel later bred youngsters get more hours of sunlight, helping their health. But on the other side of the coin early bred youngsters have had more time too build up their immune system, and help them cope with the stress, of all that is required from them. No matter what time of the year you breed, its all down to good rearing. just my thoughts.

We have won with both.early bred and later ones but the thing with the early ones you have to start training them earlier as they do go lazy and won't to pair up.

So really that's my argument. .you are creating more work for yourself with early bred ybs .I myself prefer to concentrate on my ob race team as it's hard enough as it is trying to win with just one team..but again that's just my view on it
