| I've been helping out marking the old birds for the club, must say I'm enjoying being back in the game, but, talking to the guys after the races they are all getting losses from the same race points, like last week, from Swindon, all reported losses, some more than others, now, our sec took 2nd, 3rd and 4th, this week from Swindon again the birds that took 3rd and 4th didn't make it, gone and lost forever it seems, why do you think this happens, Hawks, wires, or even a smash, I ruled out a smash as all the other birds of his made it , and most of the other guys in the club, what's your thoughts on it guys n gals |

| your racing east to west and flying across many liberations and birds heading north ...peregrine strikes don't help matters either as your birds fly over the Bristol channel/river severn which is peregine habitat either side of the water |

I thought about that o/s and if they were further east, say reading or Maidstone , then yes probably hitting northbound birds, but as Swindon is just over the Severn then I would go with your suggestion of peregrines (bleeders) |

| For many years the pigeon game has suffered losses but not a big as today
For me I would say it boils down to the quality of pigeons breed, with the type of racing and the money at steak every fancier wants to win but
its all about numbers now plus with having the dreaded youngbird sickness fanciers are sending birds just to send them and race because there is a race for the weekend
Plus fanciers want to fill there boxes just to have a good number of birds which they can race
Some fanciers play the numbers game the more pigeons the better chance they have of taking a prize
Also there is to many medicines about to give the birds but if you look back 30 to 40 years ago if a pigeon looked of colour it was removed from the team
Plus if you had a bird that did not make the grade it was also removed from the team with today's fanciers tend to give the pigeons a second chance
Also it is a race against time also got to get them ready for the first race when the pigeons may need an extra week at home
Plus schooling of the youngsters 5 training tosses then into the first race ?
JMO on a few reasons to losses

| Totally agree on most points don..The reason I race a big team is to give us a better fighting chance of winning. The too blokes here send about 75 plus so I send 40 plus .it's gives us a 2 to 1 chance so to speak.if I could I would only send 20 if I had an established team that is.also every year you have to try different blood to see if you can get better than what you already have.you have to or as you know you will get left behind. The same goes for medication I was against giving my birds stuff week in week out but again the top blokes have created this.like canker for instance they treat every 3 weeks now before it was twice a year if that..so the likes of me who want to win have to keep up with the Jones |

| most of the top fliers treat when racing its what you treat with and what you treat for and how often and how long for ...of course unless you have a weekly droppings/swab/culture tests done you will not know so get yerself a cheap microscope and look for canker, cocci, worms and hexamita yourself its better than treating blind its the antibiotics which are an issue what makes me laugh is most antibiotics are 5-7 days treatment and a 3 day candida treatment after that yet guys treat and have them in the basket the following week feckin idiots are only using the antibiotic 3 days thus causing resistance and the beytril/enrofloxacin users are the worst ok to use as a last option but some use quite regularly |

| Think your right o/s, had a chat with some of the lads in the club and they say the same, clashing with northbound, so the further east we go the worse it should get |
