Training yb.s again Empty
PostSubject: Training yb.s again   Training yb.s again EmptySun Jul 17, 2016 11:00 pm

New topic, sorry could not find the old thread. Anyway, started some rather late young ones today. Plus have to train the older youngsters. Thought 20 miles, older ones for 4th time 12 for younger ones. Then figured 20 for all then got sensible. why read and sort band numbers to put them in different baskets? So all went 12 miles. Back as soon as I was and it is a straight highway. Relieved! No more ticking off numbers on the clip board. Thunderstorms tomorrow (we are desperate for rain!) next day all to 20 miles. Took 47 total. As far as i know most are back. Do not bother counting them. Worrying about them is BS. Whatever makes it welcome. Actually need for next year 18 young birds. So have to push them in the races.
Have to eliminate the maybe ones. Get back within my comfort zone as regards numbers. Each has their own criteria.
Phil flies or keeps 4. Why? 4 superstars? Asking questions on here on how to trap young birds etc, and other questions even a novice would know.?
Nothing personal, do not know the guy, but seems after so called years of winning he should know. He called me out on my accomplishments time he put up or shut up or was at least truthful. Sorry folks. delete post if need be.

I suspect Hal Wink Wink the calling out bit Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes is a brain fade/mental issue etc, which many pigeon flyers have I've found sadly, when trying to compare results as such in differant areas on this planet of ours bounce bounce. Now, late breds Smile Smile talking to a gun flyer at my centre on Saturday last & he was telling me he had 3 late late breds "March/April this year" bred in one of his widow hood lofts that he plainly just forgot about as such  & placed them in the nuisance situation, & so he put them straight into our race from 150 odd miles with out ever being in a basket of any description & 2/3 turned up before he come to the centre for our pull over etc. Strange things pigeons Wink Wink not every thing is always written in a book as such, as what they may perhaps do at times  Wink  Wink. cheers

No training for me. Till the heat has gone I would rather jump them into 150 miles when it's cooler

yes, not good to train ybs in this heat....maybe early morning before it gets too hot, but you cant send them at the height of the day when temperatures are at the highest.

I've trained mine yesterday and today 20 miles, let them up at 1:15 middle of the day.
They came home fine both days.
I've got deoralite in the water today to replace any lost body salts due to the heat, I'm giving them a days rest tommorrow and taking them again Thursday as it looks cooler with maybe a few showers.
I've let them go in all weathers during the last month or so, I want them prepared for any anything.

Training yb.s again Empty
PostSubject: Re: Training yb.s again   Training yb.s again EmptyThu Jul 21, 2016 5:47 pm

Last training toss today before their first race Saturday.
Let them up at 1:58 very hot and humid not much wind.
When I got home from work I checked the ets and they were home in 36 mins, all on the clock within 12 seconds, they returned home to diat mixed in with a small amount of blended peanuts.
I've done all I can with them.
They've got Ropa b in the water now until I basket them, and they will have it in the water Saturday on return and dioralite on Sunday.
Fingers crossed.
Good luck all for this weekend.
