| Can anyone recommend a good company that makes Wing Stamps? I know there are a few companies out there, that do wing stamps, but I thought, if you guys could recommend someone, that is good enough for me.
Also - has anyone tried a company called "Rings 4 Wings". They are one of the biggest companies in the world that specialise in making rings for pigeons and other animals.
I am also thinking of having some leg rings with a contact name and my telephone number on them. I would never put my address on a leg ring, as that is just inviting trouble.
Any suggestions?
Phil |

| I got my phone number leg rings from lambournes . They are good and long lasting. The only thing is they take about 2 weeks to come after you order them. |

| I use the coil type phone rings phil, from lambournes, they are quite good, and in expensive....I have seen others which are a permanent type like the rpra life ring, which have your phone number on too.
if you use the leg phone number rings, you do not need to wing stamp your pigeons to race.......you only need to use one or the other, not both. |

| I use lambournes too. I use the plastic coils with phone numbers as squeekers, and when I start training I take those off and put an ets chip ring on with a lambournes phone number sticker wrapped round it.

| Thanks to everyone that has contributed to my posting.
It looks like Lambournes are way ahead as far as leg rings are concerned. I will be contacting them today. I like the idea that you can get the standard wrap around rings in different colours - that will suit me well.
Does nobody use wing stamps anymore?

Yes my friend - I remember some used to smudge the wing stamp on purpose, so it can't be read, but you had to stamp them, just to appeals the 'powers that be'. Phil |

| well, not being a mob flyer myself (rarely been a racer...lol) I`ve heard of fanciers sending over 100 ybs to a race, not in my club, but through talking to other fanciers have heard this, and sometimes sending even more. |

Not wishing to create any trouble here - but the way I see it, is:- If every flyer sent only 10 or so y/bs to a race, all clubs would go bust in a very short time! What is wrong with sending 100+ birds - the owners have to pay the same per bird as does a person only sending 5 birds - there is no discount for bulk sending! On the continent, it is quite normal for people to send upwards of 80 Y/Bs - We know Old birds are a bit different. I used to send between 50 and 80 young birds to the first few races - that soon sorts out the rubbish. Would you rather win (or get a good place) in a race with only 140 birds competing - or one with 3,000 birds? I know which one I would want to win - the one with three thousand birds! If someone wants to breed 60 + young birds for themselves to race - what are they supposed to do. When I raced, I sent EVERY young bird I had to EVERY race. If you only send half of what you have, how do you know which ones are the best. In order to improve the quality of the birds in your loft - firstly you need to choose the BEST birds from your loft. Therefore you MUST send everything, every week. It is only at the end of the racing season, that you can see which of your pigeons are the best. I know for a fact that you cannot tell the quality of your birds only by how they do as youngsters. But if you don't send them to every race, you are only selecting from HALF of the full potential of your pigeons. I rest my case. As a bye the bye, I have ordered some leg rings from Lambournes this morning. I was surprised that they will take upwards of 14 days to arrive. I guess the guy must have lots of work. All the very best to everybody who is racing this week. Has anybody started Young bird racing yet? Phil |
