when I was a young man and flew pigeons on allotments in the early 70s , we would all go to one anothers lofts for a chat , and the younger lads would help the older guys out i.e. clean out birds , take them training give them a hand to the club ext , they were good times , BUT NOW , ? that friendship is far and few between , and its time it changed because with out one another the sport will be finished , ( NICE TO BE NICE ) cheers

I think it's down to competition. Nowadays most won't let you in incase you see what they are up to lol ie what colour the water is today kind of thing.where as the old days everyone where on a equal keel and most had nothing to hide...nobody hardly comes to my garden because it's out of the way then again it might be because they don't like us haha..but it's suits us most of the time but all are welcome bar one or two lol

i don't think our club will be still going in another 10 years.......its full of elderly members and theres no young new members joining, anyway, yes, ive always liked old people and known a few very nice people over the years, and its nice to have been able to help them in return for the help and information they have given me.

your right edgie, it is nice to be nice........with the right people or course. lol!

im one of the youngest in our club i would say we will be lucky if we get 3-5 years before the club goes, The lads in their late sixties /seventies just want to put their feet up when theve finished cleaning the birds out training etc and durring the winter months prefer the warmth of home than the cold yards visiting other lofts i dont think its a case non camaradaship just age which catches us all up

I reckon our club will last about 5 to 10 years approx then I think at most there will be about 4 to 5 of us left if we are lucky

I am the youngest member in my club at 49 ...had no help whatsoever from clubmates even though I am relatively new to pigeons only started racing yb season 2010 I joined this club 3 years ago I think they think because yer not a nipper or teenager you should know the score ,we also have the main players in the open in our club they are friendly enough but keep their cards close to their chest Laughing we don't bother about that we just do our thing cheers

I know this is drifting from the original topic but it's like that all over..We all have our lazy members who do nothing at all.total waste of time but I will not go into that one much because of the last time I did nearly cost me lol....
