Does anyone, pair up depending on which moon phase it is.
I've read a lot about how good it is to pair up the day of a full moon, but I went to a fancier yesterday that people go to to buy youngens becsuse he breeds winners for them every year,
He says pairing up is better on the day of a new moon rather than a full moon, he swears by it.
He says put the nest bowl in the evening before a new moon, then let them in together the day of the full moon.
He text me last night and said the new moon is Jan 28th (next Saturday), I'm going to give it s go.
He who dares Rodney, he who dares.

Great question Boosey -

The French are crazy about doing things in phase with the moon.

They certainly plant by the moon, for example if you want to plant carrots, you would plant them when the moon is getting smaller. And if you want to sow maize seeds, you do it when the moon is getting bigger.

As for pairing up pigeons - I don't know enough pigeon folks yet to ask. But it wouldn't surprise me if they pair on a full moon.

In actual fact, this year I paired up our Stock birds at the full moon, not for any other reason except I had set a date to pair up the stock birds and it happened to be a full moon.

The real question is - Does it make any difference? That I can't tell you. We have had such a crazy pairing time this year, we are all at 6's and 7's. Having said that, out of the few pairs that paired up right away, we have 11 fertile eggs out of 12 and our first baby was born last night - bang on cue.

I guess that doesn't help you much but might give you something to read if nothing else.

New moon full moon, if either take your fancy etc Boosey give it a try I say & note the out come. Brave heart types "smile, smile" were prepared to think out side of the square as such & learnt at times something to add to their wisdom tree "Wink, wink". Cheers.
