whats members thoughts on location of the ets pad, if the pad is fitted into the landing board on the sputnik so the bird simply needs to land without entering the loft, is this legal within rpra rules...? or does the bird need to actually enter the loft to register across the pad...?

any thoughts ?

Over here has to enter loft. Though some bend the rules a little. What if the pad was outside and it clocked more than once? Would be detectable??

been asked this by a concerned member of my club hal, he says some members of local clubs within our fed are using this type of sputnit which allows the bird to be registered without actually entering the loft......... Suspect

Very contentious issue David Smile Smile especially for us old clock type men etc Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes. For me, I believe they should go through a trapping set up before being clocked as such. Here in general thou they don't, they just walk on the pad before entrying the main loft type of thing. Stinks for me  lol! lol! lol! but most just accept it as progress in the over all big picture as such. cheers

a lot are at it david ...if a guy can cheat and win nationals and escape the law what chance of someone policing ets traps ...its cheating and a lot are at it they just put the ets inside the sputnik but where the bird lands on the outside of the sputnik easy to do ...but then pigeon racing has never been fair what with wind loft position etc...

they are selling these sputnik type traps at my local corn shop, the corn man said if they were illegal they wouldn't be allowed to make/sell them........but he would say that wouldn't he.

the type in question seem to have a space in the fold down landing board which allows the pad to be slid into it, therefor registering the bird simply by landing on it, not requiring it to enter the sputnik trap and therfor the confines of the loft...... Suspect Suspect

is it illegal, immoral or plain cheating...?

its definitely an advantage........

yeah easy to do...you can do the same thing on any landing board you just need to create a small shelf under the landing board for ets pad to slide into

whu, I think are the only ones to stipulate the pad has to be after the bob wires, rpra say ok as long as integral part of loft, I don't have any hard thoughts either way if bird does 300 mile to get home not gonna worry about last 2 foot.

The location of a ets pad is in the confines of the loft so when the birds walk over the pad it can't fly off again is not on the landing board but in the bottom of the trap or under a landing board in side the loft behind Bob wires or at ground level behind bobs

All these traps are made in Belgium or the idea comes from their were I believe it is legal to trap on the out side of the loft over here its not illegal to sell them but it is to use them in racing any fancier using one should be reported all traps should be seals in place and checked at random

That's very true ray but the bird has been clock in side the loft and not outside on a landing board

Ah right see what you are saying but people do all things to win..I have heard one where it goes under his roof where the birds land ..but attainable knows what others do when it comes to gaining a few minutes

yep I think the boys I have seen who do open door always have pad first and bobs second, I changed mine last year as pure ignorance didn't know bout the position of the bobs, as I say tho don't give monkeys personally, the birds have to contend with a lot these days so the fact they go through bobs or not is no big deal for me. blame it on ets Very Happy bounce
