PostSubject: Red hen missing.   Red hen missing. EmptySun Apr 09, 2017 2:22 am

Remember the early bred young one I lost March 20? Well she came back after 10 days or so. Counted the young, thought she was in. No. Week after she came around again. Would not trap. Bad weather she is not here. Good weather she is. Other pigeons out, still will not trap. Sits on the sputnik. Feed her etc,. Was really bugging me!!! Anyway, she was here today again. Where she spends her time I have no idea.
So after futile attempts to get her in waited till dark. Light in her eyes from flashlight I grabbed her. The young stay in tomorrow. Old birds will exercise. Then hopefully train Monday, old ones. All old ones eggs will be dumped as per schedule. Flying natural. Maybe switch later in the season. May 6 first race. They should be close to hatching eggs. Must say, nice weather today and they are flying good. Guy who wanted some young has not shown up for them. Have old bands on them. Do not know his address or phone. Will wait a week then nuke them.

Is the little red still around Hal?

It wouldn't be in my loft.

I think so also. Her nest mate, mealy cock, is so far a real smart pigeon. My favourite. I think the problem is the sputnik. The way out is below the landing board. The way in is through 2 inch square slats 5 inches apart. Changed it today. Now they come out at the top and enter through dowels 4.5 inches apart on the top.
