What have I done! Empty
PostSubject: What have I done!   What have I done! EmptyWed Apr 12, 2017 6:00 am

Sorry if you have read this before - I think I put it in the wrong place last night.

It is 23:31 hours Tuesday night and I thought I would just share what I have been doing today.

I am building a new loft between two existing lofts - our young bird loft and the loft we use for stock hens, and anything else, when we need a place for a pigeon or pigeons.

I have put three of my fingers through our circular saw, which necessitated me having to call an ambulance, being rushed to our nearest hospital which is over 20 miles away, and having to have an emergency operation to save my fingers.

I have cut them half way along the finger parallel to the nail down to the first knuckle, and in the process completely smashed the bones in the top part of my fingers.

Photographs to follow! For the squeamish, they will only be of my fingers bandaged up!

I can tell you, it hurts like bloody hell.

Deeply in pain,

Phil

P.S. luckily it looks like I will be able to keep the ends of my fingers as long as no infection sets in.

I only did it yesterday afternoon Boosey.

My main objective is to keep the fingers clean and away from any infection.

As you may remember - I had a Liver Transplant a few years ago, and I have a lowered immune system, which can make me more susceptible to infection.

However, I am trusting that everything will heal really well and quickly.

It's a bit of a bugger really!

Hal

It is the right hand I have damaged, which is terrible in itself, but not as bad as it could have been, as I am left handed!

Thanks for the thoughts.

I know it is a crap situation, but at least I din't cut the fingers off.

I can't imagine how bad it would be to cut off 3 of my fingers on one hand.

Not much to see just yet - we will have to wait until the bandages come off to see what my fingers look like.

What have I done! Finger10
What have I done! Finger11

I do know the surgeon had to give me two false fingernails but I have no idea what everything looks like just yet.

I can tell you it still hurts like hell and it all starting to swell up now.  I have to go back to the hospital Friday morning first thing to have the dressings changed.  Maybe I will get a glimpse then.

The hand and the fingers are doing very strange things.  It must be something to do with my nerves firing off at random.  I was in bed yesterday morning and, for some reason, my hand gave a big twitch and I smacked myself in the gob!  Quite funny actually although it did hurt my mouth and my fingers!

More grizzly pictures to follow.

Thanks little bro. I have a top notch looker-after-er person here. Unfortunately, she has had a lot of
experience at looking after me before, during and after my liver transplant.

Do you have your first race this weekend? We do. And I am getting quite excited.

You beat me to the joke Mark - picking my nose.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

I still recon it will get a bit worse before it is going to get better.

Got to be at the hospital early-doors tomorrow, so I'm away to my bed.
