| I'm well gutted, I checked my team out tonight to make sure their all fit to basket tomorrow. And I've got 2 hocks with broken primary flights and my best cock with he's middle tail feather broken in 2 places. I've held them over steam to straighten them but they've got kinks in now. All you need at the start of the season, they must have been fighting. |

| sorry to hear this boosey, have you tried steaming the flights again...? are the flights weakened or just kinked....?
would they bend / break in flight...? |

| I'm not sure if they will bend in flight, the tail flight is badly linked in 2 places, I've steamed them, I will take another look tomorrow. |

| ive heard extreme cases where if they are broken etc they can have replacement flights spliced in and super glued......but this would only be a last resort for me, I suppose it would all depend on how strong they were and if they would bend or break during flight. |

| your shout boosey , but pulling them out wouldn't be an option for me...I`d try to splice a replacement into the quill if it was too bad to steam. |

| Would never pull a feather, just think it would be too stressful.
A dodgy tail feather would not be a problem, there are plenty left in the tail to cope with steering and manouvering at take off and landing.
Primary flights are more serious the further up the wing, choose your races carefully or keep at home until moulted. Remember that nature allows them to cope with flying while moulting so a gap in the wing is not a complete disaster |

| Can be repaired as mentioned previously. Depend on what flight is broken. Either fix or pull and hold the bird back until reasonable growth shows. It may be better for the vacation. Would pull the tail feather anyway. They do not fly with the tail spread, just land and maneuver. |
