well slugs and food is a real problem slugs carry all sorts of bacteria so yer asking for real trouble m8 so I would feed at a certain time and lift up after 10 mins or so ...with them not being separated some may not feed though as they will be on the nest ...I would separate and feed at a certain time I would never leave food down like that overnight ...I appreciate it could be down to circumstance but don't leave it down overnight ...are the bins inside or exposed to sunlight as these bins will condensate if left in hot sunshine and its not good for the corn it will cause mould and in-turn a problem with the pigeons ...just a thought atb

I feed twice a day at the moment paul, and an hour after my afternoon feed I remove all feeding trays out of the loft and put them away dry and safe from rodent or slug contamination.

when you say your birds are still paired up paul, are they breeding / sitting eggs, or feeding young birds...?

What are their droppings like? Usually a guide to internal health. Also I'm guessing the temperature where you live is waming up now? Maybe it's a mixture of too much corn and warm weather stopping them flying. However slugs or anything else unwelcome on corn is going to give you problems.

Have cocks chasing hens here but they fly for an hour. Open loft. Never short of feed. Trap them with safflower when I want them in. Train tomorrow.

As someone who has had problems with getting the feeding right, I could give you this bit of information.

Whatever your birds are doing, ie, sitting on real eggs, sitting on pot eggs, feeding babies, or doing nothing, I would be inclined to put them on a day or day and a half's depurative. By that I mean three separate meals if you are feeding them twice a day. After that, give them no more than 35 gms of mixed food per bird per day, preferably 31 gms of balanced food per bird per day.

If you have birds feeding babies, then you can always supplement their daily ration by giving them extra specialised food in pots in their boxes. If you don't have birds in boxes, then it is going to be quite difficult to regiment your birds.

It would do no harm at all to put your birds on at least 20% barley in their mix, at least part of the week, if they are racing. If they are not racing, you could keep them on a good percentage of barley through the week.

But, as most people have said, it may be very very difficult to regiment your birds whilst they are all together as all they will want to do is kiss and cuddle.

Hope this helps.

Phil

If you own a pigeon then you should have knowledge of their proper food otherwise they might have health related problems. If you are concern about pigeon food then you must have to educate yourself what pigeons eat. You can buy ready seed mix that available in the market so your pigeon can stay healthy for a long time.
