We got another bird back this morning around 09:00 hours local time, but nothing else since.  We still have 2 away.

Our clocks have now been read, and although we don't have an official result yet, it looks like we were 10 minutes behind everybody else - at least.

No idea why.

Phil

get the microscope out phil maybe touch of canker or worms , easily picked up in the basket or drinker on the wagon

I had the same thing with a cock bird last season, by the end of the season he was bouncing so I gave him a training toss 20 miles, Peterborough 75 miles, then Thurso 515 miles he was there next morning.
They don't take long to bounce back.
Brace little things

We now have our results from this weekend's race - we were nowhere really. Not last by any means but closer to the bottom of the sheet, than the top.

However, I am not disheartened - this was only the third race of the birds' lives and they had to do 200 miles this weekend.

I know 200 miles is not a lot for a pigeon, but it is a 'milestone' for them - literally!

We have 2 comeback races over the next two weekends, so we will be able to get a couple of birds that have not yet raced, down the road.

I went to see my doctor today, just for my normal monthly checkup after my liver transplant, as soon as I got in his consulting room, he said:-

"I had a letter from the hospital regarding your woodworking skills"

Cheeky bugger! He is a great laugh actually.

So the fingers are healing SLOWLY, very slowly. All the dozens of stitches are out now, but I still have to have the finger ends bandaged, because of the silicon nails. They stick up a bit and I am really frightened of catching them on something and going through the roof. I may have to have the bandages on for six months until the new nails grow again.

I have banged the ends a couple of times already, and that really hurts.

All in all, I know it was a stupid thing to do and it is amazing what can happen because of a lapse of concentration for just one second. But I am very grateful that I didn't actually lose my finger ends.

Lucky you've got ets Phil, can't imagine you trying to get a race rubber off and into a clock, although now I think about it I'd say your Hil would do the job as good as you could Very Happy

Oh please stop! My loveliness will get big headed if you guys say any more nice things about Hil.

Having said that, Hil is amazing and best of all - she puts up with me and keeps me sane.
