Racing - first week of June

I can hardly believe it is JUNE already.

But, it is and we have our first young bird race this weekend. Well I say 'race' but it is only a club training toss really!

Our youngsters have been to this weekend's lib point three times as a group and once 'Double tossed' from there. So I am hoping for good things with our 22 y/b's. However, one of our members has sent almost double the number of youngsters as we did, and he is the one in our new club who does all the winning, so it should be interesting.

We are also sending 10 old birds to a different place, but it is only 155 miles to us. It is sort of a come back race, before the longer races start.

Same, same . Bit worried thou with little Alfie the   gambling Big time on the pools/pigeons etc. One can only hope in his wisdom, he gambles in a responsible manner there with his pocket money .

Anybodies birds up yet?

It is now ten to ten and we have heard nothing yet.

Apparently there are a few 'Foreigners' pigeons (English birds) at one of our lib site and they have priority over froggy birds - quite rightly so!

It is a great morning here, lovely blue skies with a light to moderate wind on the birds noses. Should be a very interesting race, once they get them up.

Just heard - our young birds were up at 10:00.

Better go and keep an eye open!

ours were up at 7 am we got 2 in the clock both cocks 6/8 at the moment

We have had 31 of our 32 birds back.

We sent 10 old birds - ALL back but it took some time today for them all to return. 30 plus degrees today and the birds were not up until 10:30, they only had 160 miles to do, but they had a strong-ish head wind to contend with.

22 Young Birds sent - 21 back, but the Unikon missed 2 of them - not surprising as we got 18 birds back altogether and had 7 clocked in 3 seconds.

We will see when the results are done - but you never know.

That's right daz you have to appreciate that the other members have Severn weeks racing on you

The Y/B's were at St Allouestre and old birds were at Saumur.

p.s. Next weekend we have the first REAL race for young birds (this weekend was just an inter-club teaser). Yong birds are at Nord-sur-Erde and our Yearlings are at Poitiers.
