Birds slow. Getting slower. Droppings good. So quit racing for a week. Causes? Fielding on pesticides/fungicides? Exhaust fumes being transported in car? Peanuts I bought cheap? (Not for human consumption.)
Anyway, think peanuts. Should have known better. New muffler on van. Birds locked up first few days. Safflower now. Let the young birds out at 3 pm. June 2 is day 5 of treatment. Hate medicating. Nothing fancy. Super Booster. Penicillin/Streptomycin plus vitamins. Anyway, corn has sprouted so no problem fielding. They (40 of them) did their usual 45 mins then landed. 2 mins later up again. And so on. Most of the time on the wing. 8 Pm finally got the last in. OB's go out today. 2.30 am here so not for a while! Cautiously optimistic. Only by their slowness did I suspect something amiss. They look good, act good. 325 next week then 508 miler 2 weeks after. They finally agreed to run it..
Here's hoping. I should have known better with the peanuts. Water under the bridge now.
Competitive club I am in. Old Belgian took first 2 Fed positions (sent 38) Another member took 7th. (7 sent.) Other member 40th (40 sent.) I sent 15 and was 120th. 600 some birds. Well, see what happens next race.
