| How big a radius do you think a club can have before it starts to become very difficult to compete with the over fly given to the furthest flyers on inland sprint races |

| our club radius is only one mile chicken, but ive heard of some clubs which are quite a few which means members are spread out far and wide......but in these cases I don't think the over fly they get can compensate for the extra distance flown, simply because a pigeon flying a lot further can not or may not maintain the same speed due to tiredness or altering weather conditions etc...JMO |

| Club I am in lets me fly. 40 miles overfly. Other clubs would let me in also. farther away. Motto is "If you are not scared of us we are not scared of you." The SWOA (Fed) stretches from North to South about 55 miles. East to West about 120 miles. David yes. Agree. Especially like weather we are having now. Today again, heat getting to 34 C. West wind to 30 gusting to 40 mph. Think I need Ozzie birds!! Cooling overnight, tomorrow 25 C. |

| The size of the area members race home to is not a problem, think National racing.
A high concentration of fanciers racing to small areas within an organisation especially with a favourable wind influences returns and results.
Wind and drag dominate in both Fed and National racing. |

| So would it be fair to say that weather and loft position plays a bigger part than over fly in sprint racing? |

I would say so chicken, members of my local club have no chance of topping the fed, simply because of weather and loft position. on the rare occasion the weather is in our favour a member might get in the first 6 or so in the fed, but very rarely. |

| Yes. Majority of the time. However. Have won some 500 milers when it goes two days from long end. 500 mpm times. Not sure how the math works. Also won in this club and the Fed on a fast shorter race. 300 miler. How? Just the right bird in the right form and motivation at the right time. Did I know this beforehand? Nah, I am not that smart. Unfortunately. Why we race I guess. One never knows the outcome. If we did no one would fly that week. |

| So it seams wind weather and drag have the biggest influence. But like David said his club members very rarely get on the fed sheet so if the clubs in his fed had no radius rules and somebody joined his club from a area that gets on the fed sheet regular Davids club members would rarely win a race, soon get despondent and likely give up racing. So is this why clubs have radius rules to keep things a little closer to home.

| Our club has a radius of over 70 miles in every direction - but then again I give in frogland and members are very spread out.
My nearest flying members is over 20 miles away!

| I don't really know why my club went with the barkston ash fed chicken, they were with the gya but chose to change for some reason........ive noticed the fed results, every week its the same clubs who are always at the top of the list. |
