Had a phone call from Lisa at the Rpra one loft race team asking if we still wanted to join as they had some cancellations and we were on the list shame they didn't keep us in when they had the chance we will have to get the money together in September this year if we want to be in that one

Disappointing we missed out there etc Mark Smile Smile. Nature of the beast thou as such Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes that we moved on to another OLR for this year. Come September, we all here will be a wee bit the wiser I suggest & it will be on the drawing board as one of our options I suggest. Credit also to Lisa I say Wink Wink in keeping us in the loop, all part of the communication game/factor Wink Wink. cheers

they cant expect people to wait about for them really, is the deposit non refundable...? if not it should be because those who have pulled out have deprived others from entering......would have liked to be in the rpra, but am still happy we got into the mnfc despite reports ive heard about it.

maybe the rpra will be more selective in future, or maybe give priority to those who have entered before.

I am not familiar with either one loft race. Personally do not care which one we are in. What counts we are at least in one. So maybe the losses in previous years is high? Bad management, whatever. Quality prevails!!!

Same, same Hal Smile Smile both of us here are flying blind etc to a certain degree I would suggest Wink Wink. Do question why the cut of day is in September thou as such. For me Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes just appears slightly to be on the early side of the ledger at the end of the day.

what a shame, the loft manager at the rpra is really on the ball ...I think previous entrants should get first shout or maybe take a deposit from previous entrants through the sales at the end of the season ,just tick a box type thing if you want to re-enter ,as david said I hope they took deposits

the mnfc one loft had a raffle draw ,did anyone know what the raffle was for ...seems their were 2 winners and one of them being the loft managers son ,I just wondered what it was for as never heard anything prior on their facebook page ,thanks

There is no doubt many fanciers get great pleasure from being involved in One Loft races, and why should they not?.

The only problem may be that as the sport becomes more expensive and advantages of one type or another arise, fanciers may opt out of Club racing etc; and use Studs for their entries.

At the present time no one knows the actual number of competing lofts all that is known is the number of people paying RPRA fees.

If people join just to enter One Loft races then we have a deceptive number on which to attempt to make a future for the sport as intended.

I do not think the sport's chances of survival in any meaningful manner will be helped by the One Loft races, I truly hope I AM WR0NG.

Regards.

Fair comment Misty Wink Wink. For me thou, O-L-Races definitely have a place in our sport etc. But Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes on average the reputation some have I've found, have a certain smell about them by how they operate as such. If some choose thou to stretch the honesty/friendship issue I see no place for them in our sport & I would suggest Smile Smile the raffle winner under discussion here Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes if true , appears to be some what tainted I'm affraid by using my pub test standard  bounce  bounce if I could be so bold to offer my opinion on the matter. cheers

OLR will only bring new fanciers in, ppl joining a syndicate who DON'T keep or race pigeons
MAY be tempted to join a club.
Anyone already a fancier won't pack up because of OLR.
The sport will have halved in 10 years time because of the elderly dying and no youth joining.
50s/80s were the golden years, never going to be like that again, enjoy while you can affraid

Strange FW, when thinking back to the 50/80 period etc Smile Smile compared to these days as such. Population is far greater now, wages are far better & on average Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes we are all smarter now bounce bounce but some how we have c*cked things up in a big big way with our sport I would suggest.  cheers Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Just looked up my fed's latest AGM to start the year of etc Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad 15% membership loss there Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes at this stage. Local super market here is always saying prices are down down down bounce bounce & Wink Wink one could say much the same for my fed's membership I suggest unfortunately. cheers

very true it will never reach the heights in terms of members ....modern life and technology has taken over, kids are just not interested and besides its their choice afterall ...its not many peoples cup of tea is it out in all weathers 365 days a year ,its not a hobby as such its a way of life ,Alfie is in and out with his interest more akin to the hokey cokey lol!
