| Maize. Not their favorite but eat it before peas. The cold weather here dictates the use of it. They need the carbs, fat. Safflower and flax and other grains up the protien to about 16%. They get fed once a day. Not all cleaned up they miss a feed. But that is seldom. Soon they will be on a cheap, less heavy mix as the weather warms up. I play it by ear. Get a regular 14 % mix then add or subtract as need be. Works for me and the birds, |
