Our 3 are still there after today’s toss, 102nd, 147th and 173rd, mealy out in front again, but I’m not sure about the times, the first 4 being over an hour in front of the next birds Question Question

Good to see you still have the three in with a shout.

Cannot understand the hour gap though.

Would have thought from a short distance for this to happen there must have been unusual circumstances, there is no chance that these four are the best pigeons as time will tell.

Which tells you that no two races or training tosses are alike.

Pigeon racing ?????.

Regards.

another training race from Cheltenham on Saturday 75 miles 300 birds left in from near 500 personally I don't see what they are trying to achieve putting 300 birds out their on raceday early season with ybs where their will be big liberations from that area and just below but hey ho it is what it is ...fingers crossed, it should be interesting pirat pirat

I fail to see the reason for concern. If you have 10 young birds shipped with the club and a Fed or Combine release, who cares? Just because the birds cost money does not mean they should be pampered. Whole lot of worry for nothing. If the birds are good enough they will come through. If not better pigeons needed.

I see your point Hal Wink Wink But really Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes do you believe only bad pigeons are lost on average type of thing, with how the weather & other issues come into play at times, these days. If so bounce bounce maybe most should hang their head in shame with all the supposably rubbish they breed I suggest Smile Smile.  cheers

thats my point hal i would rather they go with there own local federation as they will in the hotspots opposed to their own liberation surely its a better test and a bit of safety in numbers to

Knackered. I am well aware that good and bad pigeons get lost. Not the point. Experience is what they need basically.
Although at times that is doubtful.

I don't think anyone intentionally breeds rubbish they need to be sorted out in the basket but theirs no need for suicide missions if only 300 are being liberated it will be a stiff one more often than not especially with ybs its all well and good saying they were sh**e that's why they never turned in but sorry I don't subscribe to that, their ybs not even raced yet they have already run the gauntlet and got stung so from my perspective get them into races which will indeed test them but with a bit of safety in numbers once they gain that bit of experience they will be all the better ,for me its not the experience but how you go about getting that experience on them ,easy as she goes or in the deep end ,I suppose if you have plenty then easy come easy go but for us here I will always give them the best chance with a small team and being as we have not even done a hotspot yet and have lost 40% entries in training then maybe its time to stop the long tosses amongst themselves ,I am not an advocate of extreme tosses for the ybs I don't think they need it jmo....but anyway we start racing next weekend so the situation has not arised thye have cancelled the 75 mile trainer

Food for thought. I have lots of young birds. First tosses. 12,20,35 miles. None lost so far. Not all are good of course. So numbers / flock brings them home?
