| Never had van Reets. Not sure how they would do here. Imported Grooters from Hammond and Whitaker years ago. Homers, no good. Van Loons OK. Jan Aardens garbage over here. Ganus pigeons, Venus bloodlines. 1 in 10 perform is all. The best pigeons for the course you fly are the ones that are winning. Strain names or mongrels. Some imports adapt. Many do not. Yet crossed perform well. As always, buyer beware. |

| There is no such thing as a pure breed, only a collection of pigeons bred by a fancier usually gained from several different fanciers and if successful they call them their breed.
Which is correct, they having bred them, but there is nothing pure about them, they are AlLL mongrels, and are usually added to periodically by getting pigeons from other fanciers.
I have visited many studs along with successful fanciers and all had a mixture along with the basics and I feel if the actual pedigrees of many champion pigeons was realy known there would be few shocks.
The only time the true parentage can be guaranteed is by using seperate breeding pens with only one pair in and even then a length of time has to be given for the hen to get rid of any sperm from previous pairings in fact it is better not to use the frirst pair of eggs if a lot depends on the result of the pairing.
But what on earth does it matter what breed you call them? if you have a team of mongrels that do everything you want from them why should you worry where they came from originally, once you breed a pigeon it is your BREED.
Regards.
