All ok I suspect if one wishes to breed certain colour types for an interest factor in the pursuit of excellence, maybe. but I chose to look else where as such when breeding . Noticed also, no grizzle types get a mention there . ***** |

| I’ve got a beautiful dark checker pied cock paired to a white grizzle hen, I was really looking forward to seeing what colour the youngens would be. It looks like they’re both going to be light checkers with no white at all on either of them. |

It looks like they’re both going to be light checkers with no white at all on either of them. Try another round...last year out of a dark..ish grizzle hen paired to a medium light chequer i go. 1st nest..light chequer.cock and a white..ish grizzle hen. 2nd nest..dark chequer cock... Only got the young grizzle hen left. |

| Yep, one mostly pairs for other reasons than for colours Knackered I feel. I often paired for colours though lol. Any way was a time when unscrupulous fanciers sold - still do - saying the parents were / are such and such. This chart helps those that aren't sure when the youngster don't seem to carry the right colours id that parentage was so.
When I started back here, I had a good mate give me some birds. I had a mealy cock mated to a chequer pied hen... I'm pretty sure it was. They threw beautiful grizzles. Reg Grizzle cock and a normal coloured grizzle hen/ Three rounds and sadly I had to dispose of them... they youngsters all died a little while after being weaned. |

| FW is right. Same pair as far as whites and grizzles and reds go can breed you basically any colour. White to red here. Whites, mosiacs, grizzles. White to blue check white mosiac blue checks. Depends on original colours genetics from way back I assume. Best coloured bird I have each week end is the first back. |

| Yes I am back, my wife just back out of hospital.
Talking about breeding, Brexit has been the biggest cock up ever.
Mark Twain had it right, "If anyone took any notice of voting, it would not be allowed".

| The weather so far has been the best I can remember for the Winter months.
Just what effect it will have on the raptor population is any ones guess.
Under normal circumstances the Winter months see a decline in their numbers and like wise their normal prey, but some now consider pigeons normal prey and if the number of raptors increase so will the sports problems.
Yet no attempt has been made to make it harder for the raptors to attack the pigeons.
Hope not but can see the prospect of more attacks.
Regards.

| Not sure I or many others not in the UK understand the Brexit deal. Gains and losses. Border with Ireland an issue? Better I do not comment. Lack of insight. |

| The problem is, Hal, that if the vote had gone the other way the call for another vote would have been ridiculed, but those wanting to stay in the EU for their own benefit thought the vote would go their way.
We have so many two faced politicians and you cannot take any one of them at face value.
It could well be that the vast majority of MPs, as individuals see it better for them if we stay in the EU and are just paying lip service to the vote but all working together to make it as difficult as possible to get out.
Some know they will loose their seats in a General Election and see better prospects for themselves if we stay in.
The EU is run by an unelected set of individuals whose present man in charge is a noted drunken fool, which just about sums it up.
Regards. |
