You will have to let me know what you are feeding them on Hal, I might change my eating habits.

Misty. I keep it simple and cheap. The corn I get 100lbs at a time. Free. From the friend I give bids to.
Corn coming off here waas too high a moisture content. Imix that with wild bird seed. To raise the protien
when needed, I add safflower. Oyster shell grit with crushed livestock mineral block. Small pieces of it.
Sometimes if rice is on sale wife picks me up a few pounds. Add that but usually just the basics.
Of course, summertime and basically open loft they find there own treats.

Like the idea Hal, pigeons picking up their own tip bits when on open loft, often thought that many times fanciers think their pigeons are flying a couple of hours when most of the time they are fielding, undoing the damage fanciers have done stuffing rubbish down their throats.

Seen many racing pigeons fielding.

Regards.

Got a few down here Misty Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes fielding I suspect etc Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad lol! lol! lol! after I had a brain fade moment type of thing with my hens yesterday Wink Wink Was time to go bush again here & get a load of grain & stock up for xmas & when I mentioned it to my other half, she suggested Smile Smile I go a wee bit further & pick up a load of horse shit while down there for her lovely roses type of thing. Now, being a man servant type Very Happy Very Happy I said yes dear Smile Smile & how many bags full would you like Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes. So Wink Wink any one here up for a wee challenge Smile Smile as I did some thing I've never done before in my time in the sport as such bounce bounce I'm affraid & it played out some thing like this etc Smile Smile as when I drove down the road leaving home, I did not have, in my loft bounce bounce 1 hen of any description left for future reference if things went belly up in a big way  Wink  Wink as they were all in the back of my van about to set off on a venture of a life time type of thing  & especially for all my old stock hens there being 6/8/10/12 years old & being sadly locked up for the best part of their time there as most do down here. Now Smile Smile when after doing what I had to do, I arrived home Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad & believe it not lol! lol! lol! I still had one empty loft of hens bounce bounce & then just thought to myself, now the fun begins as one could/would say  Wink  Wink if one has a weird type sense of humour as such  Smile  Smile. End of the story thou, in a shortened version here Smile Smile I was 6 out over night, with 2 this morning etc which makes Smile Smile good or bad Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes 78 from 82 hens on a cloudy misty morning/day when released from a 25 odd mile toss Very Happy Very Happy. cheers
