Put mine together Dec 10th. They have a few eggs. Bands are not sent out until Jan 1st. So no point in breeding earlier, Plus 10C here. Barn pigeons are already mating up. So lights on and daylight hours? Apparently does not matter.

Maybe, maybe not Hal Smile Smile but give me, natural light & a long sunny sunny sunny type day bounce bounce over a short cold wet miserable one any day. That being said thou Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes only thing in my breeding loft here now is Rat sack to feed the nasties Wink Wink. Now Smile Smile truth be told I'm actually glad bounce bounce as when I picked up my stray last week here I heard the tale of his partner come race day bounce bounce who has spent $100,000 odd building his lofts all up for the average type man & another $100,000 buying in pigeons Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad in the hope of winning a bag of peas type of thing Wink Wink. cheers

Bet 99% of ordinary grass root fanciers get more enjoyment than the type spending thousands, Knackered.

Just laugh when I see write ups regarding fanciers sending over a hundred pigeons, lofts like bungalows, help from studs, loft manager, like horse racing.

Many times they get just one pigeon in good time.

Grass root fancier every time for me.

Regards.

First round is for another fancier. However, 13 pairs (some not a year old) I have in one loft. Lights on a timer plus a 24 hour small light. Perhaps 4 pairs on eggs now.
Another loft only has 5 surplus pairs in it. 12 x 6 feet. No lights. Except one bulb in biscuit tin that the drinker sits on top of. Prevents freezing. 2 pair in there have laid. So percentage wise about equal. Thought I would experiment. Food is basically corn. Wild bird seed in small amounts. Basics.

Why not I say Very Happy Very Happy experiment etc Wink Wink more things gained on average I suspect Hal Smile Smile thinking outside the square/box bounce bounce than staying inside in the comfort zone Wink Wink. cheers

too early yet ,waiste of time and money pairing this early...alot do but most are sold Wink that should be an indication for anybody ok if you start to train them ybs early during old bird season ,but we have been prepairing as we have vaccinated and wormed over the last 2 weeks ,just need to canker next week then 3 weeks to get that treatment out there system and we will pair up for one loft babies and birds going out to a national flyer ,then we will take ours from the 2nd round ,good luck to all members this coming breeding season ,we have a few new pairs to try ,some lefebre dhaenens and herman ceusters ,we are also borrowing the cock that bred our best young hen last yr and he will be paired to a hen thats bred winners with 2 different cks
