Survival at its best. Empty
PostSubject: Survival at its best.   Survival at its best. EmptySun May 17, 2020 12:42 am

Will try and keep it short. Breed Bettas. Fighting fish. Had problems with one male.
Would mate, she would spawn, fry would hatch. Then all would disapear. Assumed they all died. Planted 15 gallon tank. Used a magnifying glass etc,. Nope. No fry. So left him in the tank. 2 weeks added a female. Same thing. PH of water was 8. 7.6 or below is ideal. Put in peat moss. PH down to 7.2. Excellent. Added female 3 days ago. Took the female out today. No spawn. Then looking in the tank, male swimming around has he has done for the last 5 weeks or so, debating wether or not to dump him. Movement caught my eye. Half inch Betta emerged from a plant! Counted 5 all told. Starting to colour up! How they survived I do not know. But amazing. Unheard of by me. Survival of the fittest!

There may be a cannibal in town Hal.

Have the same problem with carp over 40 years, but problem is in a pond you do not know the culprit/culprits.

Regards.
