| Had many so-called charities ask me to do a show etc.
Some paid the regular price, so I did them. Indeed many, and ALL made a good profit. Others thought I would toddle off and do a freebie.
Had a High ranking officer phone me once. Proudly told me a specific Agency had referenced me to them. One I did a lot of work for around Swindon way.
Anyway, this geezer went on and on, in regards to what he wanted. His proposals and what I could do for him!
'help the Hero's have £millions in bank accounts moving money around.
Any I cut him short and asked what he thought this would cost? Costs, costs, he spluttered. It's for charity! I felt like saying '... they fight and get maimed, die for their the country, isn't it about time the country did right by them'! But I didn't, I just said 'Oh a freebie for a good course. I take it that many will be attending. Many hands will dig deep into their pockets, especially after a beer or two. Yep, You should raise a lot of money. I'll tell you what! I will, free of charge travel nearly 200 miles. Supply all the things needed for the night. With simple guidance Sponsors even ways of getting good money before the night. sponsors, donations. Horses and jocky's sold etc. Especially as you want it on that Saturday night'. Oh, jolly good came back that crisp oxford voice. 'Yes! as I said, on one condition'! 'What would that be' he asked.
That everyone attending, organising, and organisers etc. put half their week's wages in the pot before we start'! Gosh did he bluster? ' What, I don't think you're serious here' stuttered he! 'No! Say I' But you expect me too! for you to prove what a jolly good fellow you are—especially getting an idiot to'! You wouldn't believe it! He rang off. I could spout dozens of such!
Besided those who lined their' own pockets and wanting me to falsify their 'Funds raised and My fee! No I can honestly state they were disappointed. Yes members, of other concerns asked me to do their functions ... but they didn't lol. |

| I think all those in a position to help others should do so, problem, if you cannot help them direct then the probability is your donation will be used for high class cars posh houses boose ups etc;
Even the Help the Aged etc; have a very low contribution to any charity based on their income and as Daz says those beniffiting towards an easy life contribute nothing themselves other than lip service.
The RSPB is a typical example, our bird population under their guard is now almost, in many cases below the state of no return.
For a charity to have the assets they have and the state of those they are supposed to help is criminal, as is the wages, cars, and homes they give add lib to FRIENDS and advisers that would not recognise duck from a sparrow.
Thats life.
Regards. |

| Second that Knackered, gives us an interest we would not have if others did not take an interest and do the necessary work.

Regards. all these big charities are the same misty, the managing director and staff take the main slice of the cake, leaving the crumbs to those who need it most , its a scam, just like children in need charity and red nose charity........they are sitting on millions |

| Good luck all. May you not only win it! But in any case get money enough to cover costs and the next season's fees. |

| Did suggest in a post maybe pool our ace this year.
Just for fun, maybe then use any winnings to pool the young entries next year.
Makes it far more interesting.
Never pooled when racing, never my want to take other fanciers hard earned cash but OLR a little different.
The more involement the more interest.
Just my thoughts on the matter.
