| when you look into lettuce it's really just water, nothing of value in the way of nutrition, calories, vitamins, iron etc yet isn't it strange how the pigeons love it especially when sprinkled with salt? |

| Just read where a fancier grows his own lettuce and gives his pigeons it every day have no idea of it's value but he obviously thinks it a good idea.

| Just remembered where I saw the fancier mentioned.
It is in this weeks BHW.
Fancier a Mr. Steve Bright.
Says he uses it every day and in particular when going to a race as he feels this limits deydration and retains water.
He does his share of winning.
I said years ago and numerous times since deydration can be the cause of many losses.
Perhaps this fancier has a point.
Regards. |

| With complete open loft who knows what they eat, that is perhaps why they perform and have no health problems.
Nothing to do with the fancier, nature tells them the good from the bad, fanciers just guess.

| Flying out birds show no interest when given leaves from lettuce, cauliflower or cabbage etc; Prisoner stock birds devour anything put before them |
