PostSubject: Rearing young birds   Rearing young birds EmptyWed Jan 13, 2021 7:47 pm

what do you think best way for breeders feeding ybirds?

Hopper full of breeding mix kept filled all day every day?

or fed in instalments till they stop eating several times a day?

Individual pots in the nestbox topped up when nearly empty?

I'm going to try feed pots in boxes with a lighter than regular breeding mix, and a hopper with maples on the floor which will have maples in all day, all corn removed as it gets dark, back in for daylight.

Sensible to remove the feed thou at night I suggest  Wink  Wink. End of the day, it's a time factor thing I suggest & best to find a way that works best for ones self & not what the good book may suggest you must do  Smile  Smile.  cheers

Never changed the feed all year round, much as they wanted never hungry.

Contained everything but the kitchen sink.

Feed always available.

Never any problems of any consequence.

Think mucking about with feed one of the biggest problems for the pigeons.

Regards.

I know if you get the feeding right then you're well on the way: providing you have the birds and loft environment right of course.

Same as Misty here. Few safflower seeds in the nest box later. Do not like them on the floor before they can fly. Add some basic feed sometimes. Chick peas. Canned. Got about 10 cans with load of stuff daughter brought. Empty the can, wash the peas, they come in salt and water, then let dry. Birds eat them. About 15 cans of beans, different types, will try some later on in the week.

Can be a crazy/weird type world I suggest Misty Smile Smile if one decides to start mucking about with different feed scenarios coming from so called experts of the day these days. Talk about making life complicated at times in a pigeon sense & it's mostly for little return on average I suggest for the average type flyer Wink Wink. cheers

i try keep my feeding simple, breeding or resting they are fed the same corn, which i add TK conditioner daily ..........the only thing that differs is the amount

keep things simple, too many make it harder than it needs to be ....... geek
