| UPDATE 22/09/2021 September 22nd, 2021 Good Evening
Again the birds did very well today in training.
Tomorrow we going again weather permitting for our very last trainer of 2021 again around the same time same place.
Friday they will have an open loft with baths down and love of home time.
Saturday they will stay in and if the weather forecast stays as it is then the marking team will start marking around 16:30 supervised by the RPRA CEO Ian Evans.
The birds should be on there way around 18:30 to Alnwick.
I will confirm were definitely on Friday 1pm.
Will update tomorrow evening.

| Always used the love of home as the best incentive of all.
How any pigeon could be said to love the way in which the OL pigeons are treated I feel is pie in the sky.
Food will be the only incentive I can think of under those circumstances.
Well known in nature, like the lemmings, when over crouwded find pastures anew or reduce numbers one way or another.
The bottom line is OL racing is unatural in the extreem.
So you get unatural results.
Regards. |

| Perch, defended is probably the only incentive needed.
After the 'Love of Home and system, contendeness, the only motivation is already there. they fly to perch or box . Full stop. Their race day's only incentice. Put a starling, a fantail in their nest box if you wan. makes no difference, the bird will be just as happy to have got there!
Yes some will argue that a little extra in the Box/ on rerch will add a little more motivation. I say when the cup is brim ful, then it can't hold any more. And it is alrady been part and partial during its stay at the 'Hotel' you provide for it from birth. You, nor any one. will add a jot of motivation if it isn't in the mood to rush home ... will be lacking 'Race fitnes'! 6 or 7 weeks tops. Rest of the season it with be 85% to 95%! Unlikely to win, or even place... unles a smash or Blow home where a paper bag could win.

| some fly the celibacy system to good effect ,first and foremost is the perch and grub eh a safe place ,especially as ybs ...i allways left my ybs together putting bits of timber in corners with with a bowl worked well when it came to the later ybs races i had big box perches to which would hold a clay bowl |

| I left old and young birds together all the time, they decided on superiority in the loft, all new their place and were a happy contented family.
Only thing I feel that was eccential, always at least 20 spare perches.

| Well pigeons are gregarious and like company. Down town, under a brigde etc. you never them putting space between them. likewise the loft. I had 16 pairs in a 6x4 compartment.
Best in a circle watching each other I believe. Have two shelfs - or more facing each other. Just a 4 inch divider between where the nest. A half house brick for one to stand on whilst watching the mate sitting. Best motivation to home for a contended loft fit birds.
lLke I have said a few time. A fancier in Derby had nest boxes on poles in a circle facing each other. When one took off, they all did. When one landed they all did. Up and down, short flights often Fit motivated birds. He had to be beat to win a race. |

| i always liked to measure the loft width and length and multiply and divide by 3 to get the number for the said space,ie...6x4 = 24 so 8 birds in that space for me ,its what you feel comfortable with i guess and of course ventilation plays a big part |

| I have always put the emphasis on having both healthy and HAPPY pigeons Knackered, the former without the latter, I feel makes the former of little consequence, as with the latter.

| i think this is why theres so many losses in a one loft as they are crammed in its no good for the health factor long term surely |

| Would love to house the racing pigeons in a tree ... if able to clock in Never mind the size, as long as it is well ventilated. |

| I always aimed at having the inside loft as near to the outside conditions as possible.
Complete open front from top to bottom, protected by a corridor from rain etc;
Go against nature over a long period and that concerned will adapt to new conditions but be incapable of dealing with the the original.
That is what has happened to our pigeons, in particular health wise.

| i dont think its that cut and dry , climate and ventilation will play its part to the health of the birds in any said space ...for example lofts in the uk are generally quite closed in because of damp conditions , we are led by our own experiences i guess...never did like a full brimmed loft i find the birds can be quite wild ,well thats what i found when going into such a loft ...end of the day no 2 lofts are the same i guess and what would be ok in one may well not work out in another eh atb |
