read this about walkers stopping transporting pigeons within the uk due to the rise in fuel / costs etc, yet will still be able to transport pigeons to ireland, belgium and holland ..........wheres the logic in that ........??? must be cheaper to transport to ireland, holland and belgium than within the uk, fuel must be cheaper eh something stinks if you ask me .

Yeah just read this this morning , very strange indeed , used them loads of times , I would have gladly paid more if that was the case what other couriers are there now ? I could do with a list of current ones in operation ??

hi peter, i use walkers every year and also high flyers, both very good ....i do know there are others out there who are fairly decent but it will cause huge problems now for fanciers retrieving lost racers or fanciers buying / selling birds .

Used them in past, good service. The maths mustn't have added up any longer. Hope other couriers can pick up the slack.

| :No one is going to run a business at a loss, they must have sound reasons for deciding to stop.
Appears strange still going elsewhere but there must be sound financial reasons for dong so.
Perhaps they feel there will not be enough fanciers needing their services and to make a profit the charges would be too much and vehiclesc etc;stood doing nothing.
One thing is certain no one would give up a good long standing business without a good reason.
Perhaps fanciers could help each other and work something out themselves using transporters, or when those who train a lot ect;
Regards

Nightmare for any haulage company right now. Scaremongers already quoting £3 a litre for diesel by December. It's not just fuel but tyres, wear and tear, insurance, wages. I remember having birds returned by rail in the 70's; might end up that way again?
