| Too many pigeons involved, impossible to keep all healthy at the same time and sending ill pigeons to silly training tosses is ill advised.
Would be far better having a two bird limit on entries and also making it easier for the ordinary fancier to be involved by reducing the prize money and making the emphasis on our sport and not money.
Once the emphasis is on money out goes sport.

| yes i agree misty , too many birds to look after .........how could you possibly manage 1,500 young birds .
i know the number of birds entered reflects the amount of prize money paid out, but just pay out less and take less entries......simple. |

| the rpra simply got to greedy and upped the birdage but without a decent loft design and no aviary ,the training was woeful and it just seemed to go downhill and some strange racing to say the least...turning birds from north to south without any asking of the entrants will not have gone down well with fanciers either and the previous year taking away a hotspot and yet have extra training will have been taken note of to ...yes the demise has been on the cards you cant pull the wool over so many fanciers eyes for to long eh |

| There is a big difference between a sole fanciers keeping and racing a large team of his own and someone taking on looking after 1500 pigeons possibly from 750 different lofts all the young may have health problems of different kinds etc;

Just a decent club race number, if all made the final. Better chance of controlling matters. Wonder how many entered more than single figures. Will be very interesting to see how many are lost before the first race. Maybe get the final entries in a 12 bird basket. Who knows but hey, will be interesting to say the least. Regards. |

| Irrespective of any other consideration I hope the RPRA OL has a good season.
Think if the final number involved is around 700 I feel the manager will have a far better chance of having a good season, far different from managing over twice that number.
Just hope he does not risk losses from distances that are laughable etc;
How is the other loft on the same site doing George ?.
Regards.

| To be fair there is no type of management that can give 1,500 pigeons individual attention.
So, it becomes a case of which can cope best under the circumstances.
The managers job is to find a method of giving them all a reasonable chance.
When you consider all the implications it is an impossible task.
As I once or twice suggested over the years, no treatments for illness, no aids to win, just plain corn etc;
To find out the state of health of our pigeons.
Bet you could get those left in a six bird basket.
Regards. |

| yes misty ,immunity is the first stepping stone for a one loft bird ...when we sent our candidates it was the first consideration as there will be disease abound with so many birds coming from so many sources ,probably why we always got one in the final ...no film stars required really just solid birds with good immunity and a bit of luck on yer side eh |
