Interesting, plenty there, the number of bald heads was evident.

Appears many indulge in the specifics most stands had customers but
not many empty cages.

Nice to see fanciers enjoying a good weekend.

Did not see the end, how did the auctions go ?.

Regards.

never took much notice of auctions but did hear bids of +£600 for the Gilbert pigeons as I passed. Couldn't say if this was the norm. But some earlier auction upstairs pigeons were making £50 to £100, the ones I watched anyway.

Plenty in pens for £40 ish but no good if you follow the apple and tree theory Laughing

I walked miles, round and round till I got dizzy Smile I don't think anyone could fail to enjoy this show at Doncaster, unless they dropped their wallet or something.

Pleased you enjoyed it barnie, nice to have an up lift rather than doom and gloom.

What was obvious there were very few young fanciers.

But everyone appeared to be happy.

Regards.

Just wonder how many potential breeders of champions are disposed of through
different preferences.

There is absolutely no certainty that a pair that have bred winners will ever do so again.

Think on every so called breed there are good bad and indifferent.

Also there is no outward means of knowing which is which or it would be easy and
it an't.

Only way breed and test, you are more likely to do well if you start off with a batch of youngsters all the same breed with winners in close proximity.

Then sort the wheat from the chaff, breeders and racers plus dummies.

Regards.

true misty, just because a pair of birds have breed a winner, it doesnt mean they will always breed winners ........ although it might be a good start and worth giving them a go ?

Like humans David.

Many top athletes children cannot run 100 yards in 10 minutes sort of thing.

China tried putting their top sports men and women together to bread hundreds of the best.

Total disaster.

I would bet that there are more potential champions thrown out in the egg stage than ever reaches a race panier.

When I had stock birds I ensured every egg was hatched, they bred more than their share of good ones but also some dummies, could have been I kicked out the eggs with the best ones in.

If it was easy would not be interesting.

Nothing like seeing what comes out of an egg in our sport.

Regards.

Always found here Smile Smile it's interesting to say the least bounce bounce at times racing a few misfit types, by the book. Found in a joyful way Very Happy Very Happy they really do make experts with the so called knowledge factor Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes unfortunately somehow look rather novice in nature at times Wink Wink. cheers

Picked up this young cock for a song at Doncaster, worth a punt anyway. Sometimes a pigeon just catches your eye. If anything he's on the big side of large  Laughing , but I'll find a suitable young hen, part of the fun.

Yes barnie if it was easy there would be no fun in it.

Always got as much fun out of the breeding side as anything else involved.

Hope he clicks with one of your own.
