Yes that is the reason George, jealousy, or because as I said George was giving posting a rest until I had my eye test. Just returned from a round trip of 90 odd miles to have the test. All went well until about half a mile from home and hit a pot hole just managed to get it back and friend going to have a look at it as soon as possible think maybe get another one automatic. Think done some real damage. Never rains BUT. Regards. |

Nice photos, about the time I was young. No cars of note, worked for butcher and grocer delivering by bike with basket on front, horse drawn wagons etc; Did note having a looked back whilst away, Mogan's wages. Mine was half crown from the butcher plus an ox tail and half a crown from the grocer plus the rice and peas I pinched for the pigeons, the latter were in large sacks and weighed by the grocer. Also sometimes went with the butcher killing pigs shot in the head with 22 pistol that shot a bolt out. Helped turning the chicklings inside out. Like 99% in the village never left the the village until school trips started, the only time until I joined the army was school trip to Scarborough. Would not like to be a youngster now, parents have an horrendous job attempting to protect them. Give me horse and cart to planes etc;. Regards. |

| By gum brings back memories of trips to the parks on Sunday and free, but must admit mine were spent with the pigeons and four legged friends.
But what a carefree world until the second World War.
Can remember hiding under the stairs when the doodlebugs were comming over. fortunately we had nothing of interest to bomb.
But eventually built Anderson shelters, one between two houses. to share.
Can remember all the parties when the war ended.
Loads of roast potatoes on the bonfires never tasted any as good since.
Sad world today.
Regards.

| Could relate many things in those days David that made a youngsters life a happy one.
Things have changed beyond belief, can never ever recall children stabbing teachers, sexual crimes every day, paper full of self gratification, bent politicians and civil servants to the degree we have today etc;
If there was a murder it was news for weeks, now a shock if there isn't one every day.
Feel, sorry for my grandchildren and great grandchildren can see no chance of them having any worthwhile future The only hope, put your faith in God.
Regards.
