Part 3 of the Alwyn Hill legacy sale is now live on our auction site until Sunday 14th January: https://auction.rpra.org/

RPRA Auction 5th Jan Rpra_a18

Lot AH330 in the latest round of the Alwyn Hill Legacy Sale, initially incorrectly listed as breeding line unknown, is in fact ‘Young Hugo’, son of 1st Int ‘Hugo’! https://auction.rpra.org/.../lot-ah330-be17-1179127-dc.../

Think there will be more fanciers packing in before their pigeons are worthless.

Cannot blame them but what are fanciers doing paying over the present odds for them.

Got to say to do well at the distance you need a large team to get established as one bad race can wipe you out

Alwyn was always a top class fancier even at sprint and middle distance racing, when he raced North Road

Had the best of the Staff Van Reets, when Alwyn sold hid pigeons due to domestic issues Dave Allen brought his top pairings

Bones Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes well & truly picked over on average bounce bounce I would suggest O/S Very Happy Very Happy In general terms Smile Smile auctions are just for the poor peasant folk. Not in the know type thing or part of the clique crowd.  cheers

i cant believe successful fanciers would sell their good pigeons, unless it was a clearance sale it would be pretty stupid to sell them ...... hence my normal way of thinking is they are getting rid of the crap .

Yes, no doubt their friends will have had the pick of the loft before the auction and the rest left for the gullible to fight over.

No fancier choose who they are has a loft full of good pigeons, many lofts made a name for themselves based on one good pigeon.

Regards.

In this instance the fancier has died, so everything will be auctioned off.

Sad reason for the sale, barnie, hope it goes well irrespective of any other consideration he was obviously a very good fancier with some very good pigeons that he would never have parted with.

Hope he is looking down from the loft in the sky and having a laugh at our comments.

Keep looking at the cheq pied cock Knackered.

Reminds me of the Aardens I used to have.

Then look out at the empty loft a couple of yards away and think why not, then reality sets in, a bit late me thinks.

Have to settle bird wise for the wild ones that nature throws my way.

Regards.

Large Smile Smile perhaps Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes maybe, could mean different things to different type folk etc Don Very Happy Very Happy at times, in a distance sense. I'm on average a 100/130 ring type guy here, trying to somehow achieve what the chook farmer types down here do bounce bounce with their 500/600 odd rings each year, if not more at times in many cases.  End of the day Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad racing in winter here & over a 5/6 month typical type season bounce bounce many in my time here, with their wonderful modern so called imports of the day now here unfortunately have short seasons somehow sadly I've found type thing speaking in a local sense & only recently coming back into the game as such in a racing sense with my bunch of misfit, no names out of date types  Wink  Wink as I have here, from back when  Rolling Eyes  Rolling Eyes In the end  Smile  Smile 2nd or 3rd biggest club local here, size of England type thing  bounce  bounce last year for the year sold around 2000 odd rings & somehow at the end 30 odd birds raced home from the last race as such from 500 odd miles & they just happened to come from 2 lofts there in the end in that club with a ring issue between them of 230 rings  Wink  Wink strangely enough  Smile  Smile & many moons ago here, back when  lol!  lol!  lol! one of them just come knocking on the door of the other to find out the requirements to become an Icon of the sport, which he is today in every way shape & form when wise folk talk the talk in a honest fashion here, while the other  Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad  is now just a typical has been type  Rolling Eyes  Rolling Eyes hanging in there the best he can so to speak these days with no great aspirations as such & just thankful he can perhaps maybe fall out of his bed every day now  Very Happy  Very Happy even if at times  bounce  bounce it's maybe on the wrong side type thing, which happens with certain folk at times, I've found  Wink  Wink . cheers

Sale appears to be going along nicely and no doubt there will be a few good ones
that go cheaply, however, the state the sport is in does not auger well for long term
commitment and anyone laying out decent sums of money at this time are chancing their arms.

Our inland racing can never be assured, channel racing even more problematic.

Takes years to form a good long distance team and many disappointments in many forms, recently will there be a race being a major turn off, regulations a turn off too.

But hey, what would life be without a challenge or two?.

Regards.
