| don, how long would you keep a bird to decide if it was any good, yb, yearling or two year old.......and also what must it have achieved to earn its place in the team. |

| don, do you think because a pigeon had not come up to scratch racing it would not be worth trying as a breeder ?or would you only breed from best/winners ? |

| The best breeding hen i had was crap at racing and if i had gone on racing she would not have lasted after her first year so sometimes you have to go with your gut feeling |

| remember jack barkel saying that the basket will sort your racers out but not your breeders..... but then again, some breed best to best/winner to winner, so in that case breeding from the best racers is what breeds future winners.... i dont know really, its just up to the individual isnt it..... |

| Will say that i have had pigeons for 4 and 5 years never won anything but been tryers and have bred of them and not produced anything special
But i can tell you as soon as you get reid of them you watch the young birds win thats just one thing that may happen |

| It's all about winning races but will say
Breeding is Gold Racing is Silver
Yes the basket is the best way to find the future champions |

| i think with me just restarting don the easiest way to decide on pairings is when i have raced them as ybs to put the best ones out of them together as yearlings.......and then see how their young race. |
