| i know it sounds a daft question but you have put the rings on without damaging the feet or leg as the ring should go on the leg at about 6 or 7 days old |

am i going to feed them manually? and what should i do about their feet? around 28 days they should start eating themselves, think theres nothing you can do with the feet unfortunatly |

found this when I had a look, as someone has said it could also be caused by a disease... this tells you how it could happen in http://www.pigeons.biz/forums/f14/splayed-feet-16071.html there...but if they have splyed feet and are dying then they could have paratyphoid which is a disease and needs treating |

| what i beleive is that this happens when cold the parents sitting too tight hence the youngsters feet splay outwards |

| dont know if this is right but ive heard that single reared ybs are prone to this, they suggest putting a pot egg in the nest with the yb to stop it.........ive nevr had it or tried it so can say if its true.

| Years ago I had a youngster and it was a single, that was starting to have splayed legs, So I taped its legs together until it was feathered, when I pulled it off the were pretty good. NOT totally perfect but almost. I think too much nesting material or too less in the nest is a cause but hens especially yearlings too tight is also a factor, never seems to happen to older pigeons youngsters. |
