| was at the game fair on sunday i think it is held every 2 years next time it's in yorkshire fantastic show something for the whole family except it was too large. what i did not like was the fact the crowds had gathered at the hawks and falcons and no one at the r p r a stand they had a petition for visitors to sign regarding the attacks on homing pigeons by peregrines i don't have pigeons so not sure how bad it is but think the r p r a need to do a lot more than just sign a petition. they had a junior loft and as it had droppings in it there must have been pigeons in it at some time so why did they not have some that day to bring the crowds over to the stand. on a lighter note they had poster up identifying the different colours on the pencil blue was the word slatey which i would think meant smokey blue i have heard the word slatey before is it common in england?

| hi rainbow, i think the official/powers that be in the rpra are living in a dream world......do they honestly think a petition will do anything...? in my experience a petition isnt worth the paper it is writen on, is meaningless. it wouldnt supprise me if the rpra donated to the rspb, ive a funny fealing they will........ |

| firstly their are lots of birds that are slate namely the janssen's of the pouw bros on the rpra they are a laughing stock a dirty loft with no pigeons in it as a representive of us and our sport is a utter joke and embarrassing they could have took a few fluffy ybs for children to handle bet that would have drew a few to the stall you can picture the kids loving that cant you.pigeon fanciers are their own worst enemy it seems everyone has a moan but does nothing constructive whoever was representing us at the show i shall phone and find out and also request a chat with whoever is in charge with the pr their, it seems the people at the show were their for a dayout themselves and did not want to bother looking after pigeons whilst their how can pigeon racing survive with pen pushers at the healm who are interested only in their wages who is doing the hireing and fireing at the rpra |

| well just phoned the rpra and spoke to stewart wardrop (gen manager)who will look into the stall at blenheim and call me back but also asked for ideas to promote our sport at public events any ideas of your own lads and ladies we will never sort this problem unless we ourselves do something collectively i suggested a £3 increase in the yearly rpra fee solely to go to a fighting fund yes i can hear the moans its only the price of a pint of beer afterall. |

| Oldstrain i agree about the £3.00 per member, and i would say the membership would pay it ,if it was garanteed to go to the fight the bop fund, but as you know and everyone else knows it never will happen, every year we raise thousands of pounds for chatrties about 3 years ago if you remember the fancy said we should use the show of the year money to set up the fund, but the RPRA wouldent do it , fees went up last year to help coer the cost of running th RPRA add another increase and this would be lost in the running cost, i know this sounds negative but im being honest when i say i have no faith in the RPRA at all, Ken |

| just seen the figures for visitors to the show one hundred and forty thousand over the 3 days as their stand was not far from the entrance we have to assume every one must have passed the r p r a stand i think the powers that be must put a bit more effort in what the sport has to offer from now on rainbow

| Hi Darren, i can tell you now if he phones yopu back, his reply will be ive arranged a meeting with the group going forward with pigeons, this will then be sent to regions to discuss and to discuss it with the membership( But THIS WONT HAPPEN ), as we dont count, thery will then send it back to the reddings requsting further information , so the circle begins again, No one in the RPRA are willing to say enough is enough untill the sport of pigeon racing is finished Each year the spread of BOP increases more and more fanciers are calling it a day having meetings with goverment regions etc will solve nothing petitions we can do till we are blue in the face , the rspb will produce a better one , we the membership have the money we pay towards it every year we raise thounsand for charities lets use that but guess what the rpra wont they like getting their picture in local papers for the donations enough said sorry for going on abit Ken |

Ken your absolutely right ken, i liken the rpra amd its membership to the government and the people of the country..........neither give a damn about the people they are supposed to represent, if they did, something more productive than a meaningless petition would have been done, also you are right , all they want to do is hobnob at the house of commons dinner and get their photos in the papers/mags. |

| top lad darren for going ahead ringing them, i have a feeling their fighting charity of choice would be the rspb and we all know how helpful they are towards fanciers problems
As far as it stands as i was told before was that pigeon racing was classed as a hobby, so nothing can be done about bops....if it was a sport on the other hand then there would be measures put in place to cut down the hawks legally, but dont quote me on all this as i heard it through someone and things may have changed now.

| no problem darren, didnt realise about the olympics so yes it is a sport now what with international olympics which is a good point that its progressed beyond a hobby and that pigeons are recognised as being good enough |
