| They are both still in the moult, but will look better when they get through it. They are half brothers from our original Van Loon/ JVDB lines. |

| The Ch W/F is one of two Jan Aardens Cocks we bought at Blackpool this year. to cross with our Janssen/ Van den bosche for racing next year. He came from the Louella auction. |

| Never raced him, he was bought purely for stock. He had bred 15 first place winners before we got him. He was one of our founder stock cocks. the majority of his offspring have either won or have bred winners. He was a fine pigeon. But sadly died earlier this year, he was a 95 bred bird. He is certainly in our hall of fame. |

Funny thing those van loons Gary,i have always been a distance man,but remeber looking at a mates birds few years back when van loons were doing plenty of damage around our area, in the sprint races, and was quite suprised they were typical distance stuff, nice and small, soft, darkish soft feather, and would be intresting to see how they would compete at the distance in a distance fanciers hands, but never tried them. |

| I made a mistake with my description of that cock as we have son off another one, very similar that is a cross. The one in the pic is a full Jan Arrden, that we got from Louella's auction.
That's a very true and accurate description mate. Our typical strain of Van Loons are a very small dainty sort of bird, even the cocks look very hen like in appearance. For some reason, they are not like some of of other strains. They seem mature more slowly We have a few different strains, that we have outcrossed and then the following season, line bred or even exceptional birds inbred. So as not to lose their ancestral bloodline. That's with the exception of last year. We never bred any. The first rounds always go into stock. I like to put old rings on these birds or no rings at all, because then you are not tempted to race them. Some good results have come from Mueleman Van den bosche crosses, Kellens were another good cross. So was some of our older strains of Janssens, Jonge Wittoger, Geeloger lines. We have kept one family pure though. We have had reports from a few fanciers. One fancier from Ireland, got a daughter off one of our main stock cocks, which got took to Blackpool in error the other year. He was telling us last year that he had two winners from her. Over the last couple years, they have not been flown like they should have been. Due to various reasons. But next year we are both going to fly them hard. Some of the other strains have become very versatile, competing well at various distances. Am looking forward to the Jan Aarden crosses. |
