| Thats right david out of my team of y/b for the last race i struggled to find 6 that week thay all started to go loose in the feathering, to be honest was happy with that as that told me internaly the birds were spot on Ken |

| hi ken, is there anything that would have prevented this ? would it have been different if they had been bred later ? and if so would it have been worth breeding later to avoid the early moult......even if the dark ybs do moult before the yb season ends, do you still think it is worth going onto the dark with them ? thanks. |

| Yes it is a good system as it makes the pigeons mature quicker |

| if you want to be in with a chance with young birds you must have them on the darkness system young birds thats not been on it will not be in with a chance against young bird darness youngsters they will win 90 percent of the time |

| Young birds that are natural do well in the first 2 to 3 races after this the darkness y/b come into their own Ken |

| I understand what you are saying ian, the topic was to show the advantages of darkness youngsters against natural youngsters, as i said natural youngsters will do well first couple of races after that the darkness ones will take over, one of the main reasons for darkening the youngsters is to ensure that your youngun still have full wings for the later races where most of the opens are competed for. | down to the individual at the end of the day,some wont fly dark because they recon they are not that desperate to win with ybs and would rather them use yb racing as experience for later on. each to their own i say. |
