MOT cert.....

i know its got nothing to do with pigeons, but i took my daughters car for the mot test today and the new certifacate is just a piece of paper, no water mark, or stamp on it..........only the cars details typed in boxes. this is easy for some unscrupulous person to copy or forge... unbelievable, were going backwards.

It's all computerised now and put onto the database, cops have a machine in their car now so they check it. Even insurance is the same. It's all online.

exactly what i was thinking graham, photocopy it, then type in the details.....i know it goes on the national computer so the police can check if your legal but whos going to know if you buy a car with a copied one...?

a few years ago they nade them harder to copy or forge now theve gone backwards to the days when you could put a beer mat in the windscreen as a tax disc......

that piece of paper isnt worth jack sh*t mate the correct information is logged on the computer by vosa.thats why any police checks can be done with a regestration number and you can buy your tax disc online too.that piece of paper is just a reminder for you to get the mot done again.

yes your right g/jen, but like i say....how many buyers are going to check if the mot is genuine when buying a car.....? 9 times out of 10 i wouldnt.

before you buy a car you can check onlie with vosa if the car has a relevant mot cert.its free and it also gives you the name and address of the garage it was moted in.

Maybe at Leeds United in a green blazer or black jacket. LOL

thing is doesnt matter whats on the mot certificate if they want to forge they will do ffs forge money so a certificate aint hard

true david but by that means garages can still give out mots and without a mot examination.just the same way as before.i would be more concerned about the regestration document matching the vin number on the car before i bought it.

yes jayne got hers done 2 weeks a go,the lad told me someone through theirs away thinking it was just a sample.....lol

even with the old certificate you could still get a dodgy one but now when they are mot they get linked direct to dvla , the police can check just by the flick of a button

yes ray, the bloke said to me not to throw it away, and that its new new certificate......i remember years ago when they had an embosed stamp on them and writen in pen, they then made them harder to copy with water marks in them until they came up with the big green version........now its a piece of paper and when the country is flooded with copies and people buying/selling cars with bent mots they will be wondering whats gone wrong........


yes, we all know plod can check before he even pulls you over, but he has been able to know this for years anyway before all this new insurance law came into effect, and before these new mots.

They reckon it's to combat crime as it's all linked up now even the motor insurance bureau. All mot's are now timed and there are even camera's linked up to the ministry from the testing stations. It's so they can't be lenient like they used to be and have to spent a pre determined time testing the vehicle. Also now if you take a vehicle into a station and it fails, ya cant take it somewhere else and get it passed, like in the old days. Plus they have to justify the hike from 30 quid to 50 quid.

david its due to all info on comp now and they saving on the costs on the paper now to all to save money tbh load of bollocks tbh

Gary as got it right , as soon as its connected to the computer its is logged onto the police ANPR , also you will notice a list of advisarys are on the same sheet , ask yourself this how many cars have you brought off a car sales pitch and told it was mot,ed yesterday , fine but they never give you the yellow sheet with the shit load of advisays on it

can only see a flood of crime coming out of it, one way or another.........its ok storing on computers but as we all know when computers arnt working the whole system comes to a standstill..........

the mot has been connected to the police for years anyway chris, so has insurance..........they have known if you are legal before they even pull you over.

the thing that bugs me is all these cars with foreign no plates, are they paying to use our roads by road tax ? are they all insured ? i`ll bet a lot of them arnt and if they gat a pull they cant speak english, plod lets them go because its too much paper work........its the likes of me and you who are legal and above board who get the speeding fines etc, mr foreigner gets away with it.

Yep and they dodge the tax for three years too.
