One thing that was clearly evident at the show, was the amount of thefts that took place, these so called fanciers are absolute disgrace to the fancy, we was one of lucky ones, only having one bird stolen which was Mealy Pied Squeaker Ring Number NWHU 2012 A8216 Wilks Farm Lofts to left of us, which was a much bigger stall, lost five Roland Janssens and the stall across from us, who sold custom made traps, had their laptop stolen, with all their installation pictures on it.. Whoever these people are they should totally ashamed of themselves.

It's not the price of the bird, it's the time and effort you put into producing it. The pairing of the parents, the time and effort put into when it's being reared. The weaning. We both thought, that someone was going to get a sure fire winner, with this bird. To be honest, Kev and I had the only disagreement of the weekend, over this bird, because I didn't want to take it. It took a lot of time and effort to find a cock bird of this calibre. He is the old style of Muelemans VDB, the thick set type, which go back to the original Herman Beverdam lines. But this is the agreement we have, that all the first rounders go to the sale, except for our agreed stock pairings. When something like this happens, it does get you quite upset and then you start watching everyone like they are a potential thief. You would think that they would install CCTV around the place. Considering they charge us over £120 per metre. I hope the thick T**TS race it and it wins for them, because the first time I see that ring number appear, they will never fly another bird. I told the guy from from the stall across to send a letter to the editor in the BHW, quoting all their ring numbers, because I am going to do the same.

Jeff Walton also had a couple of birds nicked and one of those crates he was selling. I wonder just how many other stalls had stuff nicked?

| If we had caught em, they would have been roughed up a bit and made an example of. It just gets to me sometimes, we spend a fortune on birds and sell them at prices that are affordable.

at doncaster on the auctions the pens could only be opened from the inside and there were a few people who got the birds out passed them to you and stood there till you gave it back....i dont know if all auctions do this because i have not been to many but it seemed to work well...
