a bit chillie out there this morning cleaning out the birds and we got lot worse to come they saying

yes and freezzing fog tonight bitter cold as well more frozzen drinkers the morn by the looks of things brrrrrrrrrrrrr

yeah, freezing fog here last night too....drinkers frozen this morning, but once i started cleaning out and seeing to the birds i soon warmed up, hope its a bit milder tommorrow but it looks as tho its coming foggy again ouside now...

Its Foggy and freezing here, taken the drinkers out of loft will put fresh in the morning

yes, stops them freezing up doesnt it....mind you ken, you will be up early to feed and water them in the morning as usuall wont you, hows to dry run pairings going.....

Dry run as gone very well, just one pair not settled and that is a father and daughter pairing, i will be splitting them all up tomorrow, then will repair boxing day

i will be breeding 46 this year

Only have the one section, unless i loose all my old birds over the channel lol

what size section will the 46 be in ken ? im wondering if it will be too many putting 30+ish into a 6x6 section....

also ken, what distance birds will you have for the channel racing ? you have short to middle distance birds dont you.....

My section is only 7 x 6 and have 60 perchs normally only breed 40 but this year ive added 6 as i want to put some to stock of particuler pair, but i want to try thm on the road first, ive not had aproblem in the past, but like mark says just keep ur eye on them

Yes David i have short to middle distance, im hoping the gabys will do it, i raced the gabys this year over the channel, and the scored upto 425 miles
so will push them a bit harder next year

have to get some new channel birds in this year havent got many left

when i raced before we bought some denys bros pigeons from louella which came pretty good for us.....personally i prefer to stick to inland for a while but might have a go at it eventually. there are some good distance strains about so im sure youll have your eyes on some already....

Im not really a channel racer, so not really sure what birds i should be looking at, the gabys did me proud this year, so for the time being will stick with them maybe try one or two of ur birds as well David bit u know more about them than i do

ive read that even tho janssens are short/middle some of them can do the distance as well...ive also read that any bird will do it even if they are so called shorter distance birds as its down to the feeding..... just what ive read so i dont have a clue ken...... i would emagine tho that it is harder/more to it to do distance flying than short.....

Think ur right on the feeding side David, but also think the endurance needs to be in the birds make up, could be wrong, im sure the distant lads will help us out
