I bought a pair at the Telford show; based more on a liking for the way they looked rather than knowledge of the strain. Does anyone on the site race them, how do they perform and what distance do they do best over? My 2 came from a good breeder in Seaham and have a good pedigree but I know diddly about them

I have heard conflicting reports about them. But saying that, we have bought in a family to try for the first time this year. I believe sprint to middle distance.

Thanks for the reply Gaz - mine was a bit of an impetuous purchase - the cock is a really eye-catching grizzle that a lot of people had shown an interest in thinking it was a Silvershadow(?), after a lot of fannying I ended up buying him and got convinced he needed a mate. I don't regret it I just want to understand how best to use their YB's.

I'm not really a colour merchant where it comes to pigeons. But one thing that really struck me with them, was the whole balance of the birds. They have bred us some wonderful birds. We got some Rhode Bingo lines, Superken, White Bandit. check out the link below. http://www.vdperre.be/duiven/hoofdpagina.html

You know me Don, extremely thorough. I've a good feeling about these birds, especially crossing them into our established families. But as they say time will tell. They will get the same chance as the others.

I like his style mate, a bit like me and kev, no bull. Sounds a fair guy to me. Hope you do well them, let me know how they fly for you. There was a guy across from us in Blackpool, Wilks Farm, he had some nice birds on his stall, Roland Janssens. These are some of ours that we have bred off.

I saw the Wilks Farm stall Gaz - nice birds. The grizzle in the 4th pic down on the left is the spitting image of the cock I bought. My RJ youngsters were only rung a couple of days ago hope they turn out as well as yours look.

Sounds familiar. LOL, I'm gonna give em a good hammering as I always do with young uns. If they can take the pace, they will come good. That cock has already bred a few winners, so fingers crossed he will have bred a few more.

| some nice looking birds there guys i purchased some roland janseens october -december 2010 i brought in 4 pairs in total from 3 diffrnet sources, i bought 4 from 1 person, 3 from another person and a friend gave me one, the 4 were louella lines (white bandit) from a guy in rotherham, total rubbish they were wild and never setteled so they didnt last long breed 1 round from them lost all 4 yb before racing the others 3 were from a guy in doncaster 2 grizzles and a chequer pied cock they were from alex mellor lines (rode bingo and super kweeeker 11) and all been raced the chequer pied topped the fed for the seller the grizzles bred a 1st club winner yb last year (race was a smash) the chequer pied paired to a hen off my mate not seen ped but told she was a grand daughter of super cloud, they bred 2 ybs that scored well and fled consistant as yb and were both put into widdowod cocks but lost one last week we have 2 yb in yb team off the chequer pied pair who look great, what would i say is that there is too many bad lines around in the rolland janseens too many people jumped on the white/ grizzle lines and bred for colour if you can get the right lines i am convinst they will do the damage for ya

I bought a couple of RJ's from the rode bingo and super kweeeker lines off of Joe Davis from Seaham, my first round from them were sold in our breeder buyer so I'll have to see how they do but I'm hopeful!!!

It's like anything else guys, it's all trial and error. I've got a few in my yb team and they will given the same chance as the others. In fact they will get hammered on the road, just like the rest, any that remain here next year will do so on merit. I too have heard some conflicting reports, we have one hen given to us from an old guy, who has bred two winners from her and she was a Louella bought bird.
