| its a lovely day here in the west ...cocks been out this morning now for the hens then ybs i have put my cocks on widow after much thought and having a good look at the programme for racing .....cocks will get 6 races hens 4 as they are only yearlings anyway and will be gearing up to pair the hens around 1st june to have a real good go at the yearling classic with 2 hens that were 1st and 2nd club from the same racepoint last year so fingers crossed i only have 6 cocks and 6 hens to race so will be choosing my races wisely |

| Hope they do well for you Darren, I'm a big fan of racing hens, I think far too many get wasted. I've had some great results in the past from my hens, in some cases they out performed the cocks. |

mine certainly did as ybs especialy when the going got tough and we had a few hard yb races in head winds from 180 and 200 miles the hens were their anyway gaz with such a small set up and wanting to give the birds plenty of loft space i have to race hens and agree they get waisted ,i was talking to a local flyer and he said his widow hens aint seen the sky for 2 years not for me i think if you educate the young hens well then they can be put into a few comeback races then given a stern race so why waiste them jmo atb to you gaz also m8 for the coming season |

| I'm not a big widowhood fan and to tend to race on a roundabout system, this keeps both sexes on their toes, I only let them play together on basketting days and when the return from races, but I have a mesh door so the both sexes can see each other when I allow them to for extra motivation. This is for youngbirds. But I never have had large old bird teams, and the ones I have had, I have raced on a sort of natural system where they only get put together for the harder longer races. This way nothing gets wasted. But I prefer youngbird racing to anything else. Cheers Darren, I think this season is going to be interesting to say the least mate. |
