how old are the ybs ? some fanciers seperate the widow cocks and their hens when the ybs are 14 days old, they put the hens in with the ybs and all the hens feed all the ybs regardless of whos they are, some even seperate the cocks and hens and leave the ybs with the cocks, but they are nearly ready to wean age......if this is your first race i wouldnt worry too much about them feeding if they are more or less ready to wean.....JMO

personally i think if the ybs are over three week old the hens wont be too bothered about feeding them, as its mainly the cocks which feed the ybs when they get towards weaning age.............maybe not in all cases i know, but ive tried it and this is just my experience.

i think if you do need to seperate the cocks and hens the ybs would be better fed by the cocks........JMO
