I think that pigeons in general have a very high pain threshold. As ive seen them stitched up with needle and cotton and no anesthetic.

Ive only ever had birds injected in the neck. And never heard of it being done by just one person. As we have to have a witness up here to say its been done.

also i think he was putting 5ml into tem as we only give them 0.1 per bird must be a different vaccine

yes me too, when i last did it i held the bird then my brother pulled the loose skin at the back of the neck and carefully injected the vaccine in.....seems a bit painfull in the leg area like this.

amanda, we once had a bird comehome from racing and it wa cut to pieces all round its neck, maybe hawk or wires....??? we sewn its neck all round in blue wool and it healed a treat and went on to race as normal.....your right they do have a high threshold for pain or injuries as ive heard some come home in a right state and they recover.....

mind you, the mans an american.....maybe they do it like this there or just maybe that the fancier doesnt care much about hurting his birds....???

I think this block is a WALLY, Wet the birds tip them upside down , with the bird pushed on its back feathers all ruffed up. Well Im sorry but I value my birds feathers more than him I think, looks so stressfull. Thats my opinion anyway..not for me. My son and I will vacinate 6 birds in the time he takes to wet the feathers and find the spot.
