Chin up mate at least you did not loose the bird in sunshine to turn to the bad weather you exsperienced but i understand Here you go David 1997 Vanrobaye Gold Ring Classic Race Weymouth 133 miles to my loft, brought 10 rings only trained the birds 15 miles no more and never raced them come the race still had 6 left Timed 2 birds and had 5 home on the day and finished in the top 50 and won money must say them 5 birds were the best birds for the rest of the season and were even sent to cherboug were all 5 were timed in So there is hope David |

| windy and cloudy here, not a bird in the loft at the mo, so obviously they have took themselves off enjoying their open hole freedom. |

Richard Boylin who wrote in the homing world always let his youngster have an open hole and always like them out on a saturday so they could get mixed in with different feds which would make them back work home plus make them use there brains the ones left at the end were his best But i don't think he trained them either Gaz they got there training from the open hole mate |

| they are not doing anything now Don so rather than see them couped up I just decided to put um on open hole. They have gone on to natural light as well now. But they are still fed fed by hand at feed times. Maybe it will just help to keep um happy. Their work will start next year. |

| I'll find out next year mate if I have done right, when they race as yearlings, one thing with light birds Don, they never suffer from stress as the light seems to have a calming effect on them. They are flying well though, I keep seeing um every now and then flying past. |

They are flying well though, I keep seeing um every now and then flying past. Remember John McGee of france when they did the pigeon film of him he had his youngsters on the light system then think (23 hours light) and that film was done some time back mate |

| That's what I have um on Don, I first used it back in 2001 during the breeding the season and every season right up to 2004. I even raced yearlings on it with great effect. Once you know the ins and outs Don the system is great.

Looks like i shall have to obtain the John McGee film then Gaz am i right by saying that the light can stimulate the birds and make them more active Apprentice asking Boss |

| it does mate, plus it encourages feather growth, which makes them go through a full moult, body and wings. But feeding is of the essence get this wrong the whole system will go to pot. Its more effective with early bred birds, but I can say these later ones I have had have done extremely well. |
