How do you keep the ones with the feather trousers clean ? deep litter (easy bed) works ok for me some dont like them on deep litter but they get plenty of baths which helps alot with them keeping nice footings |

What i mean is if you have a show on Saturday, what is the preperation eg what day do you start to prepare and how long dos it take. ? What do you feed them? how much ? i presume its less than our racers as our go out to fly. Sorry for asking all the questions, but if i dont i wont know |

Sorry for asking all the questions, but if i dont i wont know [/quote] if showning on weekend i normally give a bath in the loft/avairy on a tuesady then on thursday i will select what is in good feather for the coming show we then bring selected birds in house and check the feathers & footings are clean ( if not we wash/clean as required) clean feet and the rings then hair dry them check for any feather damage again make sure they are lice free(use one spot twice a year so dont tend to have probs with lice) me and the wife can do 15 birds in hour washed and dried then they are put in show pens ready for the coming show they can eat as much as they want. food in front of them at all times during day (also food in nest boxes 24/7 when breeding) they dont need regular routine like when your racing |

yes david this is true with some breeds i dont have this problem with the breeds i keep (all fed there own) i do use feeders on my better pairings (reason i have the logans they come in handy aswell as looking nice) you can get round it by using feeders |

| Do the judges handle the birds or is it just through the wire. Why dont they get fat if they have food 24-7. |

Why dont they get fat if they have food 24-7. most breeds are handled some are through the wires only i dont think everyone feeds 24/7 just the way i prefer to fed i mix all my own corns to suit what i need weather it be getting birds ready for breeding or showing i also add a lot of diffrent oils to corn and i dont treat anywere near as much has you do for racing i do jab for pmv |
