| We had our 1st race yesterday in the Algarve, the birds were liberated in to a blustery SE wind (that is a face wind and slightly across the birds) 12 MPH gusting up to 26 mph so we knew it would be tough. We sent 15 old birds in the club/Fed/Combine as per the limit rules a Further 35 old birds in the Club race (they only count in the club race ) and 20 late bred yearlings that range from 7 to 9 months old
We reckoned around 4 hours flight time but the weather was grim and we knew that they could take any amount of time. Our loft is situated on a small compound right next to 3 other lofts so you instantly know or at least have a good idea how well you have done. Our new flying name here in the Algarve is Vai and Vem.
At 13.18 I saw 4 birds come low like missiles flying right at our 4 lofts, all the guys began calling them and to their suprise all 4 dived on to our landing board and ran inside the traps, just 2 seconds covering the 4 birds times. We had 2 fed birds, 1 club only bird and amazingly a 7 month old latebred yearling. 4 imins later a larger group of birds arrived and were shared by the 4 lofts. Here in the Algarve you need 2 birds in each race to get your points so its important that we got 2 fed birds together. We are 3rd and 4th in the club fed /combine /race We are 3rd 4th and 5th in the Club only race and we are 1st in the yearling race. I think there is a good chance we may top the Combine never mind the fed with the latebred yearling as he was 5 mins in front of any other yearling in our club and we fly the furthest. |

| Thanks Guys, and I am eagerly awaiting the results coming through from the other 24 Clubs in our combine. I am thinking we are hard to beat and if thats the case we will also put 3 old birds in the top 5 of the Combine and win the Yearling combine race with the 4th bird as this yearling was our joint 1st bird 2 seconds ahead of our other 2 birds. Next week I have a fresh 20 latebred yearlings picked out to go to the race 7 best to best pairs 7 pedigree pairs and 6 eyesign matings. his 8 month old latebred racing in the yearlings race is off one of my super eye pairs, the mother being my super eyesign bird "The Iron Grinder" picked out as a super breeder by my friend in Florida via photo sent by email Myron Kulik.
