| at the moment not sure what id get as those i have at the moment need to prove themselves or not whatever the case may be, but criteria would be either bred winners or won itself in something decent [not a 100 mile sprint as a yb lol]and consistantly at the top or near as damn it on the sheet, then my eye takes over and if i like the look of the bird id buy it lol |

| Sean----First--with the losses flyers are haveing----keep Birds that come home. You want "HOMERS"-----not Racers Then worry about your system. You can not Buy a winning bird & fly it to your loft. You can not buy a winner in a Bottle. Yes--you have to have "GOOD" birds. But your system has a lot to do with you winning or not. Serious raceing is a 24/7 "JOB----not a hobby. You need a "SUPER" healthy bird and a "REASON" to come home. JUST NY OPINION -The wife and I raced pigeons for 31 years. Or should I say----Shipped birds to races ????? - lifes to short wrote:

| Go to a winning loft and get babies as close to his winners as possible or from the parents of his winners if he will let you have them, think the latter 1st please. |

| I have bought firstly what I liked, then introduced better pedigrees to improve quality using lots of different blood, then this year my best pigeon racing is a stray from a breed I hadnt really heared of before this year...I cant understand pigeons? But I do agree with what SKYTX said really. |

| As old Jed Jackson the blind national winner from down south said in the film about the Up North Combine which was done by Rob Adams
When he makes a comment about grading pigeons its what suits you the fancier in the hand the way they handle and what looks right for you
Now this is from me someone who "KNOWS NOTHING"
If i was after pigeons i would sort the type of racing weather its sprint to long distane once done then i would start to see and handle the different winners to get the correct feel of the type of pigeon which is needed to win at the distance which you have chossen to race from
Once this is done over a period of time then bring the type of pigeons youngsters into your loft then allow them to mature and be raced them as yearlings breed youngsters and race them hard and test the quality out then what ever is left you can grade the pairings
But one thing i can say is i would pair winner to winner
Also another trick is to mix your pairing about to see which pigeons click
"BUT I KNOW NOTHING"

| Another thing is to get on the marking table as a club marker NOT ON THE RINGER but handling the birds
Then you will be handle the birds which are winning and then you can grade them with your own
DONT FORGET I KNOW NOTHING |
